ANCIENT GRACE: The Gospel in the Old Testament

Rondell Treviño (Old Testament) We often understand that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in the New Testament, but what’s important to also understand is that the Gospel is also found in the Old Testament. Every person and story in the Old Testament points to the great hero of all-time: Jesus.

ANCIENT GRACE: In All Things

Rev. Matt Miller (Genesis 43:1-14) In this culmination of the Joseph mini-series, we see that God has always been working behind the scenes to accomplish his purposes, even through the sinful actions of people. Joseph is reconciled to his brothers and shows them grace in an amazing and astounding way. In his story, we are reminded of how Jesus works in more and more powerful ways in our lives.

Rev. Matt Miller (Genesis 40) Sometimes it feels like God is working so slowly that he isn’t working at all. In an insta culture where we get what we want right away, waiting on God can be really hard. In this story, we learn how Joseph waited and how that helped him grow in grace.

Rev. Matt Miller (Genesis 39) Joseph’s life is not turning out like he planned it. He is far from family and at times imprisoned. Despite experiencing success he also experiences great defeat. We learn in this chapter that in times of goodness and in times of sorrow, God is with Joseph. We are also reminded that God is with us in both the ups and the downs. 

ANCIENT GRACE: The Brothers Reveal Their Hearts

Rev. Matt Miller (Genesis 37:12-36) The story of Joseph continues as we learn how his brothers really feel about him. Instead of lovingly correcting him for his immaturity, they sell him into slavery. In them we see our own struggle with relationships and walking in truth. Thankfully, we have a Brother who loves us in spite of our sin.

 

ANCIENT GRACE: The Dreamer Becomes a Nightmare

Rev. Matt Miller (Genesis 37:1-11) Bible students often think of Joseph as one of the hero’s of Scripture. Indeed God used him in a powerful way to preserve and protect God’s people and many others. But when he was young he wasn’t the greatest of brothers. In this message, we are introduced to Joseph’s story and we begin to see how God uses suffering and difficulty in his life (and ours) to bring about transformation. We are also given hope as God reveals that he is sovereign not only over our relationship but over all of creation.

Rondell Treviño (Psalm 133:1-3) As our culture becomes more divided due to a plethora of issues, as God’s people, we must remember that unity in the Church is what we must live and pursue.

Rondell Treviño (Psalm 40:1-3) We all have deep struggles we wrestle with in life that can often times feel like we’re stuck in a muddy pit. King David himself experienced this in his life. Yet, God, by His grace and mercy, delivers us from those pits through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

WITH ONE VOICE: Tears of Lament

Matt Miller (Psalm 6) In a world of sorrow and heartache, we can’t just be shiny, happy people. “Don’t worry, be happy” doesn’t cut it when we see gross injustice, racism, or when we experience real pain. Thankfully, God’s Word gives us words to acknowledge the pain and points to the only one who can do something about it.

WITH ONE VOICE: The Fullness of Joy

Rev. Matt Miller (Psalm 16) Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like a rollercoaster. With all the trials and difficulties in this life, how are we supposed to not only survive, but thrive? The answer is the joy found in this psalm.
